I was born in England in 1944 and came to South Africa at the age of ten when my father became part of the pioneering team (1954) who made petrol from coal. I have loved teaching English at schools and university for over forty years, and am retired and live in Cape Town. I now have time to write myself, after all those years of inspiring others to write. I also make crazy quilts, dance, and paint. My poems reflect my Danish/British/South African heritage and spring from the complex relationships within all families, but especially mine.
